When I was a little girl, my sister, Kathy, and I spent countless hours exploring our imagination, playing make-believe games, and discovering the mysteries of the world around us. The Next Morning
The following morning, I woke up to find Kathy's bedroom door slightly ajar. Peeking inside, I saw her sitting cross-legged on her bed, a look of curiosity and wonder in her eyes. Without a second thought, I gently opened the door and stepped inside.
Kathy's face was lined with worry, and her hand was wrapped tightly around a large, clear jar. From within the jar, a thick shell resembling an egg pulsed steadily. As I approached, Kathy's eyes widened, and she quickly used the lid to reveal a perfectly formed, fully formed penis.
"What are you doing?" I exclaimed, taken aback by the sight before me.
"It's called a 'gaydar,' " Kathy explained, an slang term for a person's ability to discern whether someone is attracted to them based on visual cues alone. "I was trying to figure out if you had a gaydar."
I was initially taken aback by the question. After all, our sister and I had always been close, and I had never once thought of her as anything but heterosexual. But as I reflected on her words, I realized that Kathy's observation was not unfamiliar; she was simply reflecting on how our society views and processes the information she conveyed to me.
