  • Scissors: Use sharp scissors to cut the paper accurately to the desired shape.

  • Glue stick or tape: For joining the petals together, a glue stick or tape will work well.

  • Markers or pencils: For drawing the petals and cutting them out.

Instructions

Follow the steps below to make your small paper flowers:

Step 1: Choose Your Paper Size

Begin by selecting the size paper you would like to use for your flowers. Standard 8.5 by 11-inch printer paper or cardstock works well for this project. If you have a preference for the color of the paper, choose accordingly.

Step 2: Prepare Your Paper

Fold the top right corner of the paper down so that the top edge meets the left side of the paper. Cut off the bottom rectangle part of the paper to create a square piece of paper that is 4 inches by 4 inches.

Step 3: Fold the Paper

With the square piece of paper folded in half diagonally, turn the triangle so the long, folded edge is at the bottom. Bring the right bottom corner over to meet the left side. Mark the middle of the square by making a small crease at the bottom, but do not fold the paper completely.

Step 4: Draw and Cut Your Petals

Using a marker or pencil, draw an arc around one corner of the square to create the shape of your petal. Cut out the petal and unfold the paper.

Repeat the process with the remaining 7 petals to create all of the petals for your flower.

Step 6: Assemble Your Flowers

With the petals assembled, prepare to glue the petals together. Start by glueing 4 petals onto a base made from a small round piece of paper.

For the second layer of petals, glue each petal between the 2 petals of the previous layer. Fill the second layer with the remaining 4 petals.

Step 7: Create the Center

Cut a strip of yellow crepe paper or cardstock that is 1 inch wide. along either side of the strip, apply glue along the intact side and coil the fringed strip tightly.

Attach the center piece to the center of the base, spreading the fringes open with your fingers to give the flower a blooming look.

Step 8: Curl the Petals

Use a pen or marker to wrap the edges of the petals around the pen and carefully roll the paper to bend it into a furled curve.

For each layer of petals, repeat the same process to curl the edges.

Step 9: Assemble the Final Flowers

Once all of the layers of petals are assembled, brush some glue on the inside of the pointy tip of each layer and stick the outside of the next layer in place.

Hold it in place to allow the layers to set.

Step 10: Decorate

You can decorate your paper flowers with glitter glue or spray them with a shiny finish for an added touch of elegance.
