doulas are dangerous

Doula services can provide emotional and practical support to women during pregnancy, labor, and the postpartum period. The role of doulas is similar to that of a midwife, but they are not medical professionals and cannot perform clinical tasks such as diagnosing medical conditions or giving medical advice.

However, research has shown that doulas may not always provide Safe and Effective Care During Pregnancy, Labor and Postpartum, Despite the claims of some doulas ,there is no evidence that doula services can significantly improve birth outcomes, or reduce the risk of death or injury in mothers or children. In fact, some studies have found that doula involvement in labor may have mixed effects or may exacerbate existing issues.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) in the UK has stated that doula-led care may be more effective than standard care in certain aspects of labor, and that certain approaches can improve the safety of labor and delivery for women who need additional support, such as those who have a high risk of complications or who have had a previous cesarean section.

Overall, the use of doulas is a personal choice that should be discussed with a healthcare provider. While some women may find comfort and support from doulas, it is important for women to understand the limitations of doula services and to make informed decisions about their care.
