Lifeline Program
Lifeline aims to lower the cost of monthly phone or internet services for eligible households. Participants receive a discount of $9.25 on their phone, internet, or bundled services. For those living on qualifying Tribal lands, the discount increases to $34.25. In Louisiana, TruConnect offers a free Android smartphone along with a free monthly phone service plan that includes at least 12.5 GB of 4G/LTE data, Wi-Fi hotspot capability, and unlimited talk and text. The plan also features international calling and the MyTruConnect app, allowing users to manage their accounts, top up services, upgrade devices, and earn rewards.
Income Qualifications
To qualify for the ACP, a household's income must be at or below 200% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines. For Lifeline, the income threshold is set at 135%. The specific income levels are subject to annual adjustments based on the Federal Poverty Guidelines.
Households can also qualify for these programs if a member participates in certain government programs, such as SNAP, Medicaid, SSI, FPHA, Veterans Pension and Survivors Benefit, and others. For Tribal lands, participation in programs like Bureau of Indian Affairs General Assistance, Head Start (income-based), Tribal TANF, or Food Distribution Program on Indian Reservations may also qualify a household.
