TheBottomingProcess is a world-premiere play by acclaimed playwright Nicholas Pilapil that explores themes of racism, power dynamics, and the legacy of the model minority myth through the lens of a mixed-race, age-gap romance. The play follows the tumultuous relationship between Milo, a talented but troubled writer, and John, a renowned author approaching middle age. As Milo begins to flourish artistically under John's mentorship, their relationship faces numerous challenges, including Milo's ongoing self-hatred, John's fascination with an attractive younger man, and the complexities of assimilation into the white mainstream.
