Hand, foot, and mouth disease, commonly known as HFMD, is a highly contagious viral illness that primarily affects children under the age of 5. It is caused by enteroviruses, which are a group of viruses that live in the gastrointestinal tract and can cause a range of symptoms including fever, mouth sores, and a skin rash on the hands and feet.
Diarrhea, which refers to three or more loose or liquid bowel movements in a short period of time, is not a primary symptom of hand, foot, and mouth disease but can occur as a secondary effect of the病毒的 infection.
