Kim attended Sullivan East High School in Winston-Salem, where she played basketball and acted as team captain. She then continued her academic and basketball journey atMilligan College, earning a Bachelor's Degree in Education. Her love for teaching led her to Lincoln Memorial University, where she earned her Ed.S. degree.
coaching career
Kim's coaching career began in 2000 at Tennessee High School, where she served as the head basketball coach for two separate stints, spanning over 12 seasons. During her tenure, she led the Lady Vikings to tremendous success, amassing an overall record of 213-168, earning five conference championships and three district titles, which are unmatched in the program's history.

Beyond her coaching success, Kim was an advocate for girls' sports and a positive role model to countless young athletes. She mentored several players and students over the years, instilling values of hard work, determination, and teamwork.

Kim is survived by her husband, Parrish Bright, and her children, Mchale Bright and Chandler Bright. Her parents, Paul and Reba Peer, and her mother-in-law, Sandra Bright, also survive her. Kim's brother, Tim Peer, predeased her.
