Inspired by the Hayden-Harman Foundation, the museum received a challenge grant of one million dollars, further bolstered by a $500,000 grant from the Golden LEAF Foundation. These funds allowed the museum to break ground in 2009 and eventually open its doors to the public on October 6, 2010.

The mission of the Children’s Museum of Alamance County is to encourage children to exercise their curiosity, develop their imaginations, and discover their world through exploration. Building Zone

One of the most popular exhibits at the Children’s Museum of Alamance County is the Building Zone, where kids can use theirlogic and creativity skills to produce structures out of foam connectors and cardboard blocks of various shapes. Adjacent to the Building Zone is the Health Center, sponsored by the Alamance Regional Medical Center. Within the health center, children can explore different sections representing the various areas of medicine. A light-up table mimics the operation of an x-ray reader, while plush germ toys and removable velcro organs on a skeleton add to the educational value of this展区.

The Then and Now section of the museum explores the history of Alamance County, connecting the present with the past. Visitors can enjoy a playhouse from the 19th century Alamance County, a classic train set, and even a miniature post office.
